Working with our partner schools we are able to offer trainees the chance to learn from outstanding practitioners in a variety of contexts, giving them the tools, skills and expertise they need to build highly successful careers. Most of our School Direct trainees are based at Uffculme School, which is the top performing non-selective state school in the South West. Uffculme School has been judged Outstanding by Ofsted in every inspection since 2007 and ranked 11th nationally for Progress 8, the Government's new headline measure for school performance.
We work with a diverse range of schools from across Mid Devon, Somerset and Exeter to provide our host and second placements for trainees. Trainees can request to be placed in a particular school for their main school placement. The second placement will be at a contrasting school.
All secondary trainees will complete a post-16 placement during their training. Our partnership with Richard Huish College and Exeter Mathematics School means that we are able to offer secondary trainees a great opportunity to work with colleagues in a teriary setting and develop their confidence for teaching A-level. For Maths and Physics trainees this is a unique opportunity to gain specialist expertise in teaching more able students.
