We are working in partnership with SSAT to deliver the National Award for Middle Leaders (NAML). This accredited programme will run as a series of Twilight sessions and will be led by our facilitators, Nikki Able and Laura Mackie.
Middle leaders have an essential role in translating the school’s vision into practice and are often described as the ‘engine room’ of school improvement. Outstanding schools have high-quality middle leaders and seek to continuously develop and build these individuals into high-performing teams. The NAML offers a range of modules which build the foundations of successful leadership.
Who is it aimed at?
The programme is suitable for colleagues in a middle leadership role (pastoral or curriculum, primary or secondary) or those who are aspiring to become middle leaders. The programme provides a good opportunity to offer CPD to possible middle leaders of the future.
In addition to providing high quality professional development, NAML is certificated by SSAT and provides routes to Masters’ level accreditation through the University of Nottingham for participants completing a minimum of 5 modules. Colleagues need to have completed all 10 modules of the course to achieve the Award. There is also the opportunity to personalise the programme.
When will the sessions run?
The modules will run as twilight sessions. Each stand-alone module lasts approximately 2 hours and will run from 4 – 6pm. This is a two year training programme with five modules offered in each academic year. At the end of year 1, participants can choose to complete a further five modules leading to the completion of the NAML. Whilst we envisage that most participants will complete five modules within a year, there is no requirement to do so.
